Pampered Chef - Scam or Real Business Opportunity?

Pampered Chef, Ltd. offers a line of cookbooks, food products and kitchen tools, aimed at preparing food at home.

It is the premier direct seller of important kitchenware and a subset of Berkshire Hathaway business family. The sales force of Pampered Chef provides multipurpose kitchen tools, simple mealtime techniques for preparation, and easy recipes to its various customers.

Pampered Chef was built by Doris Christopher in 1980 and the company began selling its items to homemakers in party plans similar to Tupperware parties. The idea is that home maker invites friends to her home and the products would be demonstrated and sold. Generally the Pampered Chef distributor would prepare food during the demonstration that would later be shared at the party. Over the years these products have began to gain popularity. Today the company operates in Canada, Germany, USA and the UK is gaining much popularity.

Recently, Fortune magazine has listed Pampered Chef as one of the fastest growing business in the United States. Large chunks of Pampered chef varieties are meant exclusively for their internal usage and they are not sold through the normal retail channels. Besides the U.S., Pampered Chef is doing brisk business in UK.
